One of South Africa’s busiest and most dangerous traffic routes is getting an upgrade

Construction will soon start on a rehabilitation project for Van Reenen’s Pass, which is one of the busiest routes in the country, being on the N3 highway that connects Johannesburg and Durban. The N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) has announced that a 22 month rehabilitation project will kick off from mid-November.

Load-shedding risk increases as coal stockpiles drop

National electricity supply company Eskom has announced the possibility of having to implement load-shedding across South Africa has become higher, as coal stockpiles at five of its power stations dip sharply. Eskom’s spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe informed Reuters that the possibility of national is not isolated to a specific region of the country, but is rather a national issue.

Tsogo Sun dumps R23bn casino disposal deal with Hospitality

In July, the company said it would sell a portfolio of seven of its casino and hotel businesses to the Hospitality Property Fund. Hotel and gaming group Tsogo Sun on Monday ditched its proposed disposal of seven mixed-use casino properties to Hospitality Property Fund and also the subsequent distribution of the group’s entire holding of Hospitality shares to Tsogo shareholders after some investors did not support the transaction.
