Minister saves 3 000 mining jobs

About 3 000 jobs have been saved in the mining sector following Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane’s approval of Lonmin’s application to acquire Anglo Platinum’s 42.5% stake in Pandora, a joint venture between Lonmin and Anglo Platinum.

More jobs created in agriculture

Jobs in the Western Cape’s agriculture sector have increased by 17%, according to the latest figures from Statistics South Africa. Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, said Stats SA’s Quarterly Labour Force Survey, released recently, showed that 250 000 people were employed in the province’s agriculture sector.
