Doors open for small business in Saldanha

The Ministers of Public Enterprises and Small Business Development, Lynne Brown and Lindiwe Zulu, will today oversee the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will increase opportunities for emerging small businesses in Saldanha, Western Cape.

This as the Directors General of the respective departments Mogokare Richard Seleke and Edith Vries will sign the MoU to mark the beginning of a collaboration that will create more business opportunities and open platforms for business people of Saldanha Bay.

“The parties aim to establish a relationship to develop and prioritise support and increase opportunities for emerging small business and designated groups through diverse programmes provided for in initiatives of both the Department of Public Enterprises and the Department of Small Business Development,” said the Department of Small Business Development.

The signing of the memorandum -- which will be signed at Saldanha Transnet Port Authority -- comes seven months after the Minister Brown launched the Saldanha Bay Enterprises Hub.

At the signing ceremony frank discussions will be held between government and small businesses on capital projects and procurement opportunities available, future projects as well as skills required for the upcoming projects on the West Coast.

The Ministers who will witness the signing ceremony will be accompanied by the Mayor of Saldanha Bay, Francois Scheppers and the Chairperson of Transnet, Advocate Linda Mabaso.
