Heideveld boosts its first all-female team to repair roads

Residents in Heideveld may be surprised to see a team of women fixing potholes and doing maintenance work on footways and stormwater pipes in their suburb. This all-female roads repair team is the fourth to be appointed by the City of Cape Town and is part of the Women at Work Programme that has been nominated for the fourth annual Women in Construction Awards in the category for the most innovative women’s programme.


Pay for parking in the city with SnapScan

The City of Cape Town would like to advise motorists that Street Parking Solutions, the kerbside parking operator in the Cape Town central business district, will be piloting the SnapScan alternative parking fee payment option within the CBD as from Friday 31 October 2014.


MyCiTi buses geared for a cooler ride

The air conditioning units are fitted to the 9m feeder buses that operate along the routes in the city bowl, which is renowned for its extreme heat conditions during the summer months of January, February and March. To date, two air conditioning units have already been fitted to buses operating on the inner-city routes and another 14 units will be installed over the next 14 weeks.
