Africa’s ports and harbours movers and shakers converge in Durban this October

The 6th annual African Ports Evolution Forum takes place 17 - 18 October in Durban.  This high level forumunites ports authorities, terminal operators, investors and government from more than 29 countries to boost intra-African trade, reduce port congestion, increase port connectivity and throughput and identify new business opportunities to boost expansion and modernisation.

The Department of Energy gives insight on the adjustment of fuel prices

The Department of Energy informs the public of the fuel price adjustments for October 2016. South Africa’s fuelprices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors. International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including shipping costs.

Western Cape wine companies to expand to Mozambique

Three Western Cape wine companies are on a mission to increase the volumes of the South African wine exports to Mozambique. Thandi Wines, La Rid Mal and Bayede Marketing are part of the 25 businesses that will be showcasing their products and services at the the Maputo International Trade Fair, commonly known as FACIM, which is currently taking place (from 29 August - 4 September 2016.)

Higher steel tariffs unlikely says Radebe

Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe has said that it is unlikely that government will raise tariffs on cheap steel imports, despite calls from industry to protect local manufacturers. Factors influencing their decision includes political alliances and South Africa’s standing amongst BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) members as well as overarching trade considerations.
