SAREC slams Eskom propaganda on renewable energy cost

The South African Renewable Energy Council (SAREC), together with various independent energy bodies, has come out in strong opposition to the distortion of facts associated with the cost of renewable power purchases. It is believed that Eskom is being opportunistic in its attempt to mislead and deceive the public, to serve its bid for nuclear power.

The Department of Energy gives insight on the adjustment of fuel prices

The Department of Energy informs the public of the fuel price adjustments for October 2016. South Africa’s fuelprices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors. International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including shipping costs.
