THE IMPERIAL Cargo Group established itself over the years as a reliable and capable logistics service provider, says company spokesperson.

The Group consists of:

The company, IMPERIAL Cargo was formed in 1997 with the amalgamation of Heavy Transport, Long Distance Transport, Normans Transport, ITC and Highway Carriers into one company. A huge amount of Industry experience was put under one roof with this initiative. IMPERIAL Cargo Namibia was formed in 2005 to accommodate our customers in the Namibian market. 

In its quest to become a benchmark in customer satisfaction and service delivery, IMPERIAL Cargo has adopted world-class quality standards with the implementation of an integrated ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 management system. Accreditation for ISO 14001 was achieved in October 2012. Our ISO 9001 stage 2 audit will take place on 11 November 2013. The company has embarked on the mission of having its fleet RTMS accredited, and thus far a major part of its vehicles have been successfully accredited.

IMPERIAL Cargo offers the following services in the supply chain: 

  • Line haul transport 
  • The transportation of a wide range of products inside South Africa 
  • Cross border transport

Routes from South Africa to major centres in:

  • Botswana
  • Lesotho
  • Mozambique
  • Namibia
  • Swaziland
  • Angola
  • Zambia
  • Zimbabwe 

Inter-modal transport

Unpacking and de-stuffing containers. IMPERIAL Cargo provides lifting and repositioning of containers through the use of a side lifter. Various specialized equipment is used for a number of tasks.

Warehousing solutions and warehouse management 

IMPERIAL Cargo manages warehouses on behalf of various clients. It also has its 
own warehouses. 

Consolidation

Consolidation networks exist between major centres, with depots in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth. 

Local distribution solutions

Local Distribution solutions on either a dedicated vehicle or on an ad-hoc basis. 

Supply chain management 

With many of our customers we manage all or part of their supply chain from production through to the end consumer. The full scope of these services is managed and controlled by IMPERIAL Cargo- meaning one point of contact and one point of accountability. 

Integrated IT solutions

IMPERIAL Logistics has a number of specialists offering integrated IT solutions, and is able to develop solutions to increase capability modeling, warehouse and supply chain optimization. As part of its long-term thinking with customers, IMPERIAL Cargo is able to respond proactively, through the links it maintains to global innovation, and its in-house development of systems.
