Western Cape exporters who play such a vital role in the economy will be honoured in the annual Exporter of the Year competition run by the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the overall winner will also receive a cash prize of R50 000.


Red Tape Reduction Unit saves city export deal

An intervention by the Western Cape’s Red Tape Reduction Unit has saved a city firm’s lucrative export deal.  
Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, yesterday (28 June 2016) visited Southern Spars, a Montague Gardens-based masts, booms and rigging firm.
Minister Winde said the company was assisted by the Red Tape Reduction Unit in April to obtain a customs release for the shipment of a yacht mast to Singapore.

DTI to promote SA at China Expos

South Africa will promote its projects and export products for investment at the upcoming annual South African Expos in China, says the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). This comes as the two countries celebrate 16 years of diplomatic ties this year.


Trade conditions remain tight, warns SACCI

Uninspiring economic growth, difficulties in recovering from labour disruptions, the financial pressures facing households and below-par export volumes were contributing to restrained trade conditions, with the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (SACCI’s) seasonally adjusted Trade Activity Index (TAI) for September remaining in negative territory at 48 points.
