Welcome to June 2010.
What an incredible few days! The World Cup opening ceremony was spectacular, watching and cheering for Bafana Bafana in the opening game against Mexico was nothing short of incredible and the first match in the Cape Town Stadium went off without a hitch, so big thumbs up all around! The atmosphere along the Fan Walk and by St Andrew’s Square on Friday was fantastic and we’re looking forward to many more days like it.
I’m sure you’ll all agree that being part of this momentous occasion is something to be proud of, and something that we will always remember. Make the most of every occasion to join the festivities, welcome our visitors and be proudly South African.
Without further a due, here is the June 2010 Newsletter.

We are really looking forward to working with him going forward. Here is a brief interview to give you an idea of the role he will play as a CID manager:
What work did you do prior to joining the GP CID? I spent twelve years working in the security industry in Joburg, ranging from managing cash-in-transit companies to property security to VIP protection work.
What skills did you learn that are relevant to your current position? I completed many courses including fire fighting, anti-hijack and advanced driving which have all taught me valuable skills that I’ll use in my new position. I also learnt a lot about interacting with and managing people, which is a key part of my current position.
What will be your main area of responsibility for the GP CID? For the past three months I have been shadowing security manager Marius Swanepoel and Vetus Schola manager Dolph Venter to learn the ropes and ensure that I am fully equipped to manage the Green Mile from July 2010, which stretches from Ebenezer Road to Glengariff Road in Green Point. I will also manage the three new parking areas within the Green Mile.
What are you key objectives in terms of managing the Green Mile? In a nutshell I would say networking and building up my local knowledge to enable me to assist businesses and residents where-ever possible, and keeping the area in the condition it is in now for the World Cup. I plan to work closely with Sergeant Barley, the sector manager from Sea Point SAPS and get to know all the business in the area to see how we can improve and assist with security measures and procedures.
