CID UPDATE
As a CID we are dedicated to curb criminal activity through implementing various stringent security measures. However, it has been proven time and time again that there is only so much we can do from our side. Community members have a vital role to play and it’s crucial that each one of us take responsibility for our own safety in this joint fight against crime.
Almost 100% of incidents relating to theft and robbery out of motor vehicle are a result of valuables being left in the vehicle. It’s a fact: you immediately increase the chances of your vehicle being broken into if you choose to leave anything – even if isn’t of real value to you – in your car. Start with yourself; make it a rule and never compromise. Then tell your friends to do the same. When guests arrive at your home or office, ask the question:” Is there anything of value in your car?’ These criminal activities are unnecessary and can threaten to undo a lot of the hard work that CID patrols are under taking to decrease crime in your area.
We therefore urge you – please join us in this fight! Take responsibility for your actions. It costs nothing – only a little bit of common sense.
In this issue: we have great security tips for restaurant owners; we encourage you to visit the many art galleries in your area; learn how we help to keep your area cleaner and read how we work together with our ‘neighbours’ to prevent and combat crime. Also be sure to check out our events calendar, you are sure to find something to do, whether you are staying at home or going away this month.
