CID UPDATE What's happening in your CID?
As the year 2008 draws to a close, we are both celebrating and mourning.
We celebrate as the CIDs continue to fulfil their mandate to combat “crime and grime” on a daily basis, and an acknowledgement to our loyal, dedicated, passionate and highly ethical staff who secured five arrests in the month of October. A thank you too for recognition received from the community, which is so appreciated by all the team members who strive to offer you their best.
We celebrate the beautiful area in which we live, play and work, by doing our part in restoring areas to keep it free from graffiti.
We celebrating the move of Societi “The home away from home” restaurant that relocated from the V&A Waterfront to Oranje-Kloof. We continue to list all the exciting events and activities happening in both the Green Point and Oranje-Kloof CID areas and celebrate the love of life, food, activity and the cosmopolitan atmosphere permeating our city.
And lastly, we celebrate the continued development of the Cape Quarter ‘Extension’ – adding additional value to the prestigious and enjoyable Cape Quarter.
The mourning is for the passing away of a valued team member, Mr. Coetzee (Mobile Drive – OKCID) who passed away this month due to medical reasons. It is a great loss to us all and we pledge our support to his family at such a sad time.

Say owners Tammy Botbyl and Peter Weetman: “Societi is a neighbourhood ‘local’. We would like it to be a sanctuary for Capetonians and visitors looking for a home from home. More than cuisine, it’s a way of life – taking the time to savour a meal and enjoy the company of family and friends. We love it, it’s an extension of our home!” ...(read more) FAN MAIL Dear CID My name is Melody Eleanor Kaye. On Monday, 27 October, at around 18:00 on Waterkant Street, my car window was smashed and some of my belongings stolen. As I realised my things had been stolen I received a call from Shift Manager Nigel Williams informing me that the thief had been caught and they were detaining him at the B.P garage. I have to just say that with people like this watching over the area, I will always feel safe. Your staff has a fantastic work ethic, a great understanding of how people need to be treated in circumstances such as this, as well as very high morals. ...(read more) QUOTE OF THE MONTH "The problem is not that there are problems.
