Exploring Future Options for Cape Town and its Region

One of Accelerate Cape Town’s strategic objectives is to influence public policy development around future options for the Cape region.  Through our CEO, Guy Lundy, ACT has actively participated in the development of a Regional Development Strategy, a process initiated by the City and the Province to reposition Cape Town and its surrounding economic region to more effectively address the economic, social and environmental challenges.Recently we hosted David Schmidt, the co-ordinator of the RDS process, at the Forward Thinkers Forum, a forum put together by Ernst & Young.  This Forum brings together various business leaders to debate and discuss future scenarios and the strategic choices facing Cape Town and its region.  After David’s presentation, discussion and debate was held on the proposed regional development strategy. We have also been able to give strategic input and direction within the Provincial Development Council processes, a Provincial Government institution where business, labour, government and civil society collaborate on key Provincial Government growth and development projects. In a short space of time Accelerate Cape Town has been successful in influencing, guiding and making strategic inputs into discussions which have all been aimed at exploring future growth and development options for the Cape.Issued by: Linton Rensburghttp://www.acceleratecapetown.com/node/404
