Manuel an Excellent Example of Public Speaking and Communication Skills
Great article in The Times today with Manuel, an accomplished public speaker and as an excellent example of effective speaking criticising business for not standing up to labour.
Manuel has always shown to be eloquent and forthright when tackling sensitive issues in the interests of the public. Leaders say they could have done more, but deny they have shown no backbone. The unions who represent skills in South Africa have given business a run for their money.
In strongly worded comments in his speech at the World Economic Forum in Cape Town, Manuel exhibited great presentation skill when he said South Africans needed to redevelop the sort of trust that got them through the constitutional negotiations and led to democracy in order to progress.
“One of the issues — and we used to laugh about it [then] — was the ability to talk at length about everything. At the moment, I think that is a national characteristic that is somewhat in distress,” he said. Talking at length when trying to keep your audience captivated during an effective presentation is not the way to go. According to Dynamic Presentations expert trainers effective public speaking and presentations need to be concise and impactful.
“So if we’re going to have cowards in business, we’re not going to get very far. You must have that counterweight if you want progress. “Its fundamental to physics and its fundamental to politics,” he said. It is so critical to display confidence and get your point across in management, business and politics through effective presentations during public speaking. As Manuel says “In this moment of renewal, it is very important that people focus on who they are, what they represent and what the outcomes are that they seek. There is nothing wrong with being in business and standing up for the outcomes that you seek. You don’t have to keel over every time somebody stands up and says that I disagree with you,” he said.
He was speaking in public during a discussion about the Dinokeng Scenarios, an investigation into possible futures for South Africa and the issues that could raise the country up or bring it down.
