The 2008 annual Conversion Model™ conference celebrated a milestone year for the Customer Equity Company. FusionDesign was again tasked with conceptualizing, designing and implementing the conference held at the Mount Nelson Hotel.
The 2008 XLR8 conference recognised a major celebration and new innovations from the FusionDesign team. First and foremost the Customer Equity Company celebrated its 10,000 Conversion Model™ project and the last night of the conference was dedicated to celebrating this major milestone against the backdrop of the Twelve Apostles Hotel.
The conference engaged thought leaders from around the world on key topics like the increasing need for marketing agencies and programs to show demonstrable added value to clients and the role that leaders and thought-provoking content play in influencing the customer experience, comments Lesley van der Walt, TNS’ Global Director for Brand Equity.

“This year’s conference brought together 60 Conversion Model™ delegates from over 10 countries. The strong international presence gives us the opportunity to benchmark our conference against international standards including the high expectations set within the global TNS Group,” comments Naboe Grainger, Marketing Executive at the Customer Equity Company, “and with 94% of this year’s delegates giving feedback that on the basis of content, experience and organisation they would definitely like to return next year, I would say it was a resounding success.”
“Each year the theme we develop considers current marketing trends, Customer Equity Company’s priorities for the year and feedback from Conversion Model™ customers and agents. What came through strongly this year was that companies are increasingly engaging the Conversion Model™ to accelerate their growth strategies. The term, accelerate or xlr8 as it became known, became the central theme for 2008. Our lead on the project this year was Nadia Lerm, creative director of FusionDesign“, comments Carmen Lerm, CEO of FusionDesign.
Adds Nadia Lerm, “What inspired our design this year was the essence of the word collaborate – to fuse, link, bond; and how elements and people work together to evolve and xlr8 to ignite thoughts and actions. The colours where chosen to complement the bright pink of TNS and the shape of the TNS icon. We combined the logo with secondary brand elements of structures inspired by visuals of formulas and scientific molecular structures. Metallic colours were used to create the magical and celebratory ambience that was synonymous with their achievement this year.”
“The 2008 conference again demonstrated a seamless effort between us and our agency. FusionDesign is completely committed to ensuring we are represented in the best possible way to our partners and clients and extend the capability of CEC’s marketing department,” concludes Grainger.
