Since the launch of Mimaki’s revolutionary Print + Cut CJV30 Series in September 2008, a record number of over 120 units have been sold to date. Following the success of Mimaki’s solvent inkjet printers, various solutions to make contour cuts of printed materials have been explored. Mimaki has introduced a unique solution to the problem of making consecutive contour cuts by integrating the award winning JV33 and CG-FXII series continuous crop mark detection ability, which not only ‘kiss cuts’ but also die cuts, a unique Mimaki patent.

Mimaki Perfects

The system is widely used for decals, vehicles, seals & labels, POP displays, T-shirt decorations, and many more applications. CJV30 series is an integrated print and cut device that will automatically contour cut without any steps in between. This delivers a seamless workflow, which utilises Mimaki’s vast experience and expertise in print & cut. One integrated device fits in a small office space with the benefit of an affordable price. Customers who have limitations in their office space and budget now have a choice to use Mimaki’s sophisticated print & cut technology for contour cutting.
The compact design of the 60cm (24”) CJV30-60 is especially suitable for retailers to make sales promotional displays. The printing width of 60 cm (23.6”) offers print service providers unmatched performance, productivity and efficiency in small format print and comes at an attractive and very competitive price.

The CJV30 series uses fast drying SS21 solvent ink, which enables it to make contour cutting soon after printing without ink lifting. In addition to this, a newly developed Auto Media Clamp function varies clamp conditions for printing and cutting for various media. Printing requires several pinch rollers to securely hold the media in place, when cutting - this requires two pinch rollers (and wider media needs 3 pinch rollers). Four levels of clamp pressure (strong, medium, week and off) are selectable according to the type of media. These conditions can be set from RIP software and are automatically switched during print and cut. This automatic function eliminates operator guesswork and allows for long and continuous operation without additional operator actions.
The Continuous Crop Mark Detection function can deliver high productivity even when lamination is required. When substrates are re-set for lamination after printing, an optical sensor enables automatic consecutive detection of crop marks and precise contour cutting can be made aligning each image automatically. As described in either case of cutting functionality soon after printing or by re-loading media after printing for lamination, long-time consecutive contour cutting is made possible, shortening job turnaround times.
The CJV series uses state-of-the-art technologies already employed in the JV33 series:
The White Ink Overlay Print function uses high-density white ink and offers simultaneous white and full color printing. It creates vivid full color images on both opaque and transparent substrates. This expands Mimaki’s range of applications for print & cut. With Mimaki’s UISS (Uninterrupted Ink Supply System), the machine can utilize two cartridges per color in 4-color mode for continuous printing. When the ink cartridge runs out, another cartridge begins supplying ink and help prevent the running out of ink. Ink cartridges can also be changed during printing.

To achieve high quality print & cut and fastest throughput using the above new technologies, Mimaki’s unique RIP software: Raster LinkPro4 SG and cutting software plug-in for CorelDraw and Illustrator: FineCut are bundled. Simple Studio, another included application software, can easily create print & cut data to generate stickers and labels.

“Based on already successful solutions, Mimaki offers greatest choice ranging from small to large format solutions for our customers to expand their business opportunities. This must be a powerful tool to express their creativity in a wide variety of applications,” says Sjinich Uehara, General Manager of Graphics Division R & D.

This year, the announcement was made that this bestselling device is now available with BS inks. At the end of 2008, Mimaki introduced the newly developed BS solvent inks, which are half the price of the standard SS21 solvent inks. Mimaki developed the more cost-effective BS ink with the intention of helping the end-user to minimise the costs of printing and maximize profits; while still upholding the same quality that Mimaki is renowned for. The BS ink, which comes in 440ml cartridges, (C, M, Y, K) has a wide colour gamut with spot colours (R, G, B) available as an option for the Art Industry and unique photo reproduction. These inks are up to 50% cheaper than any other original inks and come with the Mimaki Head Warranty Program.
