Award winning industrial flooring now available in the Cape

ESTABLISHMENT

Industrial Flooring Systems (Pty) Ltd - (IFS) commenced business in the early part 1982 with the fundamental goal of providing a superior contracting service to manufacturers of specialist flooring products.

After numerous requests by blue chip clients, IFS established fully operational branches in Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal to provide the high quality service these clients were used to receiving in the Cape and now wanted available in these areas.

IFS having now expanded their operations servicing Southern Africa from their two branches in Pinetown, KwaZulu Natal and Honeydew, Gauteng.

The Pinetown branch services the greater KwaZulu Natal area and the Honeydew branch services the greater Gauteng area including the neighbouring provinces.

The IFS Gauteng is responsible for the sourcing of contracts in Africa including the coordinating and completion of these sub-saharan contracts.

 

FOUNDING PHILOSOPHY

The IFS founding philosophy was based on two basic requirements these being the use of the finest flooring materials available both nationally and internationally and the installation of these products by our trained and qualified artisans.

With these two founding philosophies a further proviso of initiating research into new flooring products, surface preparation and contracting equipment.

These philosophies aid the successful installation of the highest quality flooring products and ensure the long term wearing characteristics of the new floor finish for our customers.

With these philosophies IFS have established itself as one of the leading flooring contracting companies in Southern Africa.

A niche market for a high performance industrial flooring contractor that was prepared to take responsibility for the successful installation of industrial floor finishes was identified in the early 1980’s.

The directors of IFS, with their relevant backgrounds, established a dedicated contracting company providing a service to the manufacturers of Industrial flooring products.

The company’s reputation grew and in time our client base started to refer to us for the writing and verifying of flooring specifications. This service has provided our company with a market leading advantage as the client receives a specification and professional application from the same company.

This ensures that the client receives the correct floor finish for their requirements and a guarantee that is supported by us and by the manufacturer supplying the products for the relevant contract.

 

STAFF

Management
The senior management of IFS has over 125 years of combined flooring experience. This is a substantial quantity of knowledge that is available to our clients and suppliers.

The sales, marketing and contracting management teams comprise 8 males and 4 females. A further 8 site supervisors are involved in daily site supervision.

Rory Heath (MD) oversees the daily management of the company from our Cape Town office assisted by Gavin Hill in Gauteng and Brian Sparrow in KwaZuluNatal.

Jonathan Netshikulwe heads the national marketing effort of IFS from our offices in Gauteng and is resposible for promoting IFS as a BEE compliant national contrtacting company.

Our senior contracting staff is overseen by Aidan Ewers who is assisted by Brandon Philps in the Gauteng region and Peter Brewis in the KwaZulu Natal region.


Contracting staff
IFS is proud of a staff compliment where more than 80% of the employees have been with the company in excess of 15 years. This is testimony to the excellent working conditions and employee relationships maintained by the company. These long term employees are the back-bone of a successful contracting company.

The senior artisans are tasked with the continual training of all our contracting staff so as to ensure that the high standards of quality are maintained into the future. At present no less that eight employees are being trained to take over certain aspects of the daily contracting tasks performed by IFS. These duties range from Site supervisors to trowel hands and support staff.

Awards

In 2003 the efforts of IFS were rewarded when a Fulton Award OF Commendation was made to the company in recognition of the work carried out at the SALT (SA Large Telescope) project at Sutherland.

This highly technical application was designed and applied by IFS. The finish required was for a super flat, smooth heavy duty concrete surface.
