Well, the overseas tourists have really got it right. Boom time in McGregor is March, April, May. February is tooooo hot for holidaying in the village with the best weather ever. In February, you have to just stay in your rustic, thick walled holiday cottage, or take a big bottle of water to the birdhide at sunrise and sunset, or sit under a tree.
4 x 4's with airconditioning are OK, but for goodness sake don't get stuck or you'll get heatstroke. But as we move into March the weather is perfect and the beautiful summer evenings are perfect and skies are the clearest for stargazing.
Take a wine induced ferry boat trip down the river or hire a canoe. McGregor Country Holiday Cottages is the place to be. Affordable getaway, oh ja and you can bring the dogs (and children) too.
