Parklands College was recently treated to two memorable mornings of performances by the CPO. As the perfect blend of tone and timbre permeated throughout the Secondary Faculty Hall one was once again reminded of the privilege of possessing the sense of sight and hearing.
The professional musicians, together with the conductor, Alex Fokkens, made orchestral music a reality for our learners. Our Pre-Primary and Foundation Phase learners were introduced to the instruments of the orchestra through the narrative text of 'The Three Little Pigs'. The Preparatory Faculty learners were taken on a magical tour in time, which was skillfully demonstrated by various genres of music being performed and once again an engaging narrative text given by Alex. Many learners were given the opportunity to conduct a short extract of music. 'Emotions' was the theme presented to our Senior Secondary Faculty learners, a powerful and meaningful connection was made between the human soul and music.
