Parklands College has been involved in a very exciting World Cup project over the past 3 months. iSchoolAfrica has set up World Cup youth broadcasting teams in four provinces; in private and public schools (teams of five learners in 15 schools) to report on themes related to this momentous event.
Our Parklands College World Cup Youth Press Team (WCYPT) consisting of: Itumeleng Mabusha (Chair), Lyn Lawrence, Remofile Legodi, Michelle Lee Sun, Jason Pienaar, Hezel Ndlovu, honorary member Bontle Mafojane, and managed by Sue Smid, has been producing wonderful video documentaries / stories that will be broadcast on MNET and SuperSport for the period leading up to the World Cup. This project is being coordinated by iSchoolAfrica who will give our learners official press status during the World Cup in order for them to interview players and report on games played in the Cape Town Stadium.
Tremendous time and effort has been made by the press team and Sue Smid. They have spent every weekend since the middle of March 2010 capturing and editing content and they have attended training courses from both VEGA School and Project3 on video production techniques.
The titles of the video documentaries they have produced so far are:
- Reporters Team Introduction
- The History of Parklands College
- Cape Town Stadium Tour
- Welcoming a Tourist to Cape Town
- TopDeck – The Sweet Dream
- Football Friday
- World Cup Fever
Starting from 1 JUNE 2010 one new video from any of the 15 schools will be screened daily at 18:25 on M-NET (DSTV channel 112)
From 3 June 2010 there will be repeats of screened episodes at the following times 13:25, 15:25, 16:25, 19:25 and 20:25.
Please look out for our learners' fantastic work.
