Secrets To Decorating A Small Teens Bedroom
By: Lee Dobbins

Your teens bedroom is their haven so you want it to have great style and function. Here are some tips you can use to get big style in a small bedroom.

You want your teens bedroom to be a space for your teenager to call their own and your design style is critical. But what can you do when the room is very small? Fortunately, there are different things you can do to make decorating a small teens bedroom a big success!

One thing you want to do is be certain that you decide on an interior design that enhances cozy areas. One big feature to avoid with small teens bedrooms is clutter due to the fact that it is likely to make the room feel significantly smaller.

The color palette is an additional key cosideration when decorating your teens bedroom. Reguardless of common belief, you do not have to stick with white walls to make your room appear more open. You should be able to have color and still make the teens bedroom look more spacious by pairing colors which show equal intensity, or sticking to a monochromatic palette. So you could select all cocoa's, or bright colors in red and orange. Painting an opposing wall a deep hue will cause it to seem further away, thus adding depth to the room. Pale tones will recede, therefore making the room seem larger and gray toned color is a great overall shade for a small room. If you think gray will be too bland, you can in effect try any cool paint color like green, blue or purple to produce the same effect.

When decorating a small teens bedroom you might also think of things like accessories and furniture placement. Even if many people dismiss the qualities of Feng Shui, the ideas behind it could still be applied when putting the furniture in your teens bedroom. Unhindered access into a room can make it appear larger, so stick your furniture away from the doorways. If you can, lead the eye from the open entry to a bigger piece like a can help divert the eye and provide the illusion of a larger room.

When purchasing furniture for your teens bedroom look for furniture and accessories that are small or medium sized. In place of using separate bed and desk, consider using a loft bed with desk underneath which will make the room look bigger while still allowing your teen to sleep and do homework. Regardless you don't have to decorate with all small pieces in your teens bedroom, picking some larger pieces will add appealing charm to the room, so why not use the small bureaus but also use a large poster or chair, it could also add atmosphere to the room.

Decorating a room with a specific design theme in mind could also help to make good use of the teens bedrooms space. A sleek minimalist style can be ideal as this de-emphasizes clutter and has a tendency to emphasize space. Take care to choose a style you like since this is an important room for both you and your teen.

Even if you have never decorated before decorating a small teens bedroom could be easy. Merely because your teens bedroom is small doesn't mean it can't develop the same alluring style you see in big designer homes - it only requires a bit of creativity and imagination.
