The wellness programme of Discovery Health, Vitality has entered into a joint venture with retailer Pick n Pay in an effort to lower the health liabilities of Discovery Health by encouraging its clients to purchase healthy foods from the retailing chain store.

Vitality is giving clients discounts on selected 'Healthy foods' that are stocked by Pick n Pay, as well as benefits in the form of Vitality points which are accumulated by clients for behaviour that contributes to their good health.
Discovery is hoping that this will encourage South Africans to buy more healthy food, as a recent survey indicated that 62% of us consider healthy foods to be too expensive. Around one-third of deaths in this country are as a result of unhealthy lifestyle decisions which lead to obesity and its related illnesses, also healthy eating reduces the risk of contracting communicable diseases and as such Discovery would like for its clients to engage in healthier habits.
