Activating the HealthyFood™ benefit

Activation can take place from 24th February 2009

Members have to activate the benefit before they are able to access the benefits

Activation may be done online or by calling Vitality on 0860 99 88 77

There are 2 activation processes, one for those members with a DiscoveryCard and one for those without a DiscoveryCard

1. Members with a Visa DiscoveryCard

Vitality members with a Visa DiscoveryCard, can use their cards to record their HealthyFood™ saving, and therefore will not require any additional cards or identification

Key points for Visa DiscoveryCard holders to access their HealthyFood™ saving:

DiscoveryCard holders must activate the HealthyFood™ benefit and agree to the benefit’s terms and conditions

After activating the benefit the DiscoveryCard holder must swipe their card at the till before paying, to record the HealthyFood™ items (even if they use the DiscoveryCard to pay for the purchases)

DiscoveryCard holders save 15% or 25%, plus the usual cash back of up to 10% according to their Vitality status

The HealthyFood™ saving will be paid back into the DiscoveryCard account every month i.e. in the form of a cash back

2. The HealthyFood™ card for members who do not have a Visa DiscoveryCard

If Vitality members do not have a Visa DiscoveryCard, they can either apply for one or activate the HealthyFood™ benefit and get a HealthyFood™ identification card


Key points for Vitality members without a Visa DiscoveryCard accessing the HealthyFood™ benefit:

Vitality members who do not have a Visa DiscoveryCard must activate the benefit by going online or calling the call centre

Members will be asked to confirm or provide their bank account details so that the cash-back can be paid into this account

A HealthyFood™ card will be posted to the member, together with a catalogue of the qualifying foods shortly after applying via the call centre or internet

Vitality members must swipe their HealthyFood™ card before paying

Members will receive their HealthyFood™ saving each month in the form of a cash back, paid into their nominated bank account

3. Marketing and communication elements


The scheduled marketing and communication roll-out for the HealthyFood™ benefit is as follows:

Discovery website and activation process:

All the information about the HealthyFood™ benefit will be available on the Discovery website, www.discovery.co.za during February

Member communication:

The summer edition of the Discovery magazine will have all the information about the HealthyFood™ benefit and activation process in it and will be posted to Discovery members during February

Advertising campaign:

The Vitality HealthyFood™ advertising campaign will be run in the media during March

Vitality HealthyFood™ in Pick n Pay stores:

The flagship Pick n Pay stores will have Vitality HealthyFood™ branding to heighten awareness of the benefit
 
4. More facts about the HealthyFood™ benefit

The HealthyFood™ saving when shopping from home:
  
Members will be able to get their HealthyFood™ saving when they shop online, on Pick n Pay’s online shopping website, from 1 April 2009

HealthyFood™ information on the Pick n Pay till slip:

To identify shopping items that qualify for the HealthyFood™ saving, the Pick n Pay till slip will have the letters VIT next to the price and item description

The fees members pay to use the HealthyFood™ benefit
There is no cost to use the HealthyFood™ benefit, except when you need to replace a HealthyFood™ card

To replace a lost HealthyFood™ card will cost members R35 for every new card


The HealthyFood™ saving of 15% and increasing it to 25%:

Members immediately save 15% on HealthyFood™ when they activate the HealthyFood™ benefit

When both the main member and spouse complete an online Personal Health Review, their saving increases to a massive 25%

Members must have Vitality points to use the benefit:

Members must have Vitality points to use this benefit, because their points decide how much they can spend and save on HealthyFood™ in a year

Members who use the HealthyFood™ benefit will also earn 10 Vitality points for every HealthyFood™ item they buy

Members earn a maximum of 500 points a month on the membership

The maximum members can spend on HealthyFood™ in a month:

We work out the HealthyFood™ saving on a maximum spend of R2 000 a month for a single member and R4 000 a month for a family, as long as they have enough

The saving applies to all the foods on the HealthyFood™ list
