Established in Cape Town in 1988, Folio is the largest language services company in sub-Saharan Africa. Services include: translation, copywriting, editing and proofreading, transcriptions, localisation, interpreting, chaperoning/guiding services and voice-overs. Clients range from micro-sized companies to large multinationals in both the private and government sectors.
Our panel of highly qualified translators and interpreters, all mother-tongue speakers with tertiary education, provides access to over 130 languages. These include all the major international languages as well as languages from across the African continent.

High-tech and versatile
At Folio, we work at the cutting edge of translation technology, using the latest CAT tools (computer-assisted translation software).
For over 21 years Folio has worked with material from every conceivable type of industry and our translators and language specialists are versatile, being equipped to deal with technical and creative texts. Recently, we have noticed a burgeoning demand for translations into African languages by the pharmaceutical and cellphone industries. Folio is a pioneer in managing translations to meet the needs of these industries as well as for the local advertising industry.
Speak up!
Folio recognised the growing demand for voice-over artists and geared up to meet this challenge. A dedicated voice-over department was established to recruit voice-over artists, introduce voice clips onto our website, conduct voice coaching and undertake production supervision. Another major growth area is that of providing interpreters for conferences and business meetings.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is as important to us as it is to you. We value our reputation for discretion, so Folio not only signs a confidentiality agreement with you, but we also require all translators to sign an overriding non-disclosure agreement. We store confidential documents in a secure place and no proprietary information is ever released.
