About the artist
Of Irish decent, Karen Scanlon moved to Cape Town, South Africa in 2002. She is inspired by the light and brightness of the beautiful colours of the sky, sea and mountains as well as the culture and the vibrant people of South Africa. Painting all her life and experimenting with different mediums she has found her niche in using a mixture of resin and pigments on canvas and board to create amazingly colour and unique abstract pieces of artwork.
Karen has been commissioned by interior decorators, architects, galleries and private clients to transform their environment using her vision and expertise to feel out the energy and produce appropriate pieces to enhance their space.

The works on the "portfolio" section of the website is a small taste of some of her commissions. Karen prides herself in creating unique pieces and therefore does not replicate her work. Should you like anything in that section she can be commissioned to create something in a similar vain. Colours, shapes and sizes are all interchangeable to suit the client.
