Pick n Pay opened its second state-of-the-art Distribution Centre today, following on the launch of its first one in Longmeadow, Gauteng, in 2010. The opening of the Distribution Centre in Philippi, Cape Town, forms part of the roll-out of four sizeable distribution centres around the country, with a total investment of R2-billion.

Pick n Pay and BP Southern Africa (BPSA) have formally combined forces which will see the roll out of small-format Pick n Pay stores located at BP service stations in the major metropolitan areas across South Africa.

Pick n Pay yesterday reported a much improved second half in the release of its year-end results to 29 February 2012. Chairman Gareth Ackerman said that the company had seen a marked improvement in the second half on the back of major steps forward in transforming the business and a refocused strategy and implementation plan for the business.

V&A Waterfront says trade in the last six months has been exceptionally strong with retail sales growing approximately 18% year on year.
