THE College of Cape Town is proud to announce the appointment of Mr Louis van Niekerk as the new Principal and Chief Executive Officer (as defined in the FET Colleges Amendment Act 1 of 2013.)
The position became vacant as a result of the resignation of the former Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jannie Isaacs, at the end of April 2013. Mr Van Niekerk was appointed as Acting Chief Executive Officer during the interim period whilst the Department of Higher Education & Training conducted the process of recruiting to fill the position.
Louis gained experience through a wide range of positions held in the educational realm, many years of which have been dedicated to vocational education and training. Louis is a qualified artisan who previously held the position as superintendent of education at the Department of Education and Culture Ex Administration. He was vice-rector and became the rector of the former Western Province Technical College, a vocational training institution of excellence that now forms part of the College of Cape Town, before being appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of the College of Cape Town. His qualifications include various teaching diplomas, a B Ed and a Bachelor of Business Management (with Honours) as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Management Administration.
