MOBILE enterprise applications that are designed to address key business challenges are essential if companies are to become more efficient and respond faster to changing customer needs.
Understanding these challenges, Deloitte Digital (Africa) designed the award-winning ‘.com Telco Data Visualizer’ tablet app, which this year scooped both the MTN iOS Enterprise App of the Year and the silver medal in the highly competitive Best Quality User Experience category at The 6th Annual AfricaCom Awards.
The tablet app for iPad and Android phones can be applied to any industry, but in this guise converts raw telecommunications network and customer insights ‘big’ data into visual models that demonstrate how subscribers behave and consume network services.
“This app instantly visualises masses of data in a simple and interactive interface. It has been designed to enable C-level executives to make real-time decisions around customer behaviour, segmentation and migration and to create competitive advantage in order for them to have a firm grip on their business. The app bridges the gap between business intelligence and product development, which allows executives to interpret, anticipate and define the much needed insights around their customers’ behaviour as well as their own infrastructure usage,” says Tim Bishop, Director at Deloitte Digital.
Bishop says that while big data has become so fundamental to proper business decision-making, it is useless if it is not structured in a way that it can be instantly interpreted and understood by those that really need it. “With this app, Deloitte Digital has created a ground-breaking solution that keeps companies ahead of the curve, because they will always know what their customers are thinking in real-time,” Bishop adds.
Telcos, utilities, and large corporates need to invest large amounts of time to understand their customer behaviour, segmentation and migration. Historically, this type of reporting is generally handled by big data specialists, who disseminate a significant amount of raw data to create manual reports, which are then presented to clients.
These reports are often at the highest level and are delivered long after the live occurrence. This makes it increasingly difficult for decision-makers to be guided around what the changing needs of customers are.
“This app methodology has transformed how the C-suite understands, interacts, and makes informed decisions based on live customer data. As an expanding global digital business, Deloitte Digital are focused on helping companies build, understand and adapt towards integrating digital throughout their businesses.”
“We believe the role of digital is a vital component in building a sustainable business in today’s competitive market. To have won awards of the statcure of the MTN Enterprise and AfricaCom awards is testament to the quality and expertise of the talented people in our growing Deloitte Digital Africa team and underlines the intelligent nature of solutions we bring to our clients,” says Bishop.
