City celebrates business achievements and job creation

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, Alderman James Vos, recently officiated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony where Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages celebrated their new production line.

This new product line means more job opportunities.

‘Investments like these solidify Cape Town as a preferred destination for investment on the African continent. The City aims to make it easier for businesses to start up, invest and expand in Cape Town. The plan is to not only be the easiest place to do business in South Africa but in Africa overall,’ said Alderman Vos.

Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages invested over R200 million for this expansion.

André Cloete, the Managing Director of Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages said that the company found it was a pleasure to do business in Cape Town and that their relationship with the City was mutually beneficial and sustainable, creating employment in communities and making a difference that matters.

‘When businesses thrive, more jobs are created, helping more people out of poverty over time. Our city has consistently achieved the lowest unemployment rate across all the metros in South Africa, however, so much more still needs to be done to enable job creation and economic growth,’ said Alderman Vos.

‘We celebrate Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages R200 million investment and acknowledge their contribution towards employment opportunities and business expansion. We will continue to support such investments through our business support programmes and facilitation services, especially with matters such as the roll-out of energy installations.

‘The Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages Cape Town plant is currently installing a massive electricity solar system that will further enhance their energy efficiency to ensure that operations can continue. This further shows their business confidence in Cape Town. The City’s Economic Growth Directorate is ready to assist companies with their investment facilitation,’ said Alderman Vos.
