LaunchLab ‘Ideas Pitching Platform’ open

The ATTACQ Retail Ideas Programme Pitching Platform has kick-started on participating campuses around the country; Stellenbosch University (SU), The University of Western Cape (UWC), The University of Cape Town (UCT), The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), The University of Johannesburg (UJ), WITS University, The University of Kwa – Zulu Natal and The University of Pretoria.

The contest is open to all aspiring entrepreneurs from student and non-student communities running until the 23 September.  It is an innocuous platform for aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs to pitch their Retail business ideas and stand a chance of winning their share of R100,000 seed-funding and LaunchLab incubation support to the value of R150,000. The final judging event will be hosted at the Nedbank Stellenbosch University LaunchLab in Stellenbosch on 19 October 2016.

The ATTACQ Group invests in and develops high-quality real estate assets as long-term investments that generate quality rental income and sustainable capital growth for shareholders. With this in mind, ATTACQ wishes to build an innovation pipeline as a value-add for their clients and for customers that visit their real-estate properties daily. ATTACQ know that people will always need space, but the nature of the activity in that space is changing every day. They have recognised this opportunity and are looking for ideas with business potential that may create the next breakthrough innovation in retail by addressing the following:

  • Responding to the e-commerce needs of clients and customers
  • Customer experience, comfort and convenience
  • Payments within ATTACQ properties
  • Operational issues: utilities, security, cleaning

Participants can enter their business ideas by doing an informal three-minute video pitch with no digital presentations –  recorded at the various campuses mentioned above or can be submitted online at the following link: Entrants may pitch more than one idea, but only one idea can win! ATTACQ representatives, experienced entrepreneurs, academics and representatives from the local investor community have been selected as judges and will determine the winning ideas.

“We want to create opportunities that expose bright entrepreneurial minds. LaunchLab’s Pitching Platform is a great platform for aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs to test the viability of their business ideas and to gain access to a valuable entrepreneurial network,” says Philip Marais, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LaunchLab.

Even though the Pitching platform will take place at universities, the programme is not only open to students, but to everyone. Don’t miss this opportunity to make your business idea a reality – book your pitching slot today to stand a chance to become the driver of innovation in Retail!

The final judging will take place on 19 October 2016.  The general public is welcome to join the final pitching event.
