MAN Automotive launches new Lion’s explorer bus at SABOA

The Bus Sales Team of MAN Automotive have many reasons to smile broadly on the occasion of this year’s SABOA conference. Having the opportunity to unveil what is arguably the best looking commuter bus ever built locally, is certainly an event reserved only a very few fortunate individuals.

Head of MAN Bus and Coach sales, Philip Kalil-Zackey enthuses: “Team MAN have taken two decades of passenger transport expertise, combined with the ongoing inputs from our very experienced customers and integrated all that know-how into the global developments of the MAN Lion’s family of buses. The result is a completely new bus body, with modern European styling, that includes the DNA requirements of arduous African operating conditions.”

Looking at the new product, the flowing lines will certainly be eye-catching whilst bringing improved fuel efficiency through lower drag co-efficient. The day-time running LED lights in the front, together with the refined lay-out of the tail-lights in the rear end enhance the appearance of the unit to a level never seen before on a commuter bus.

MAN Automotive Managing Director, Markus Geyer, adds, “We are very proud to continue and expand our local production of commuter buses with a product that includes all previous USP’s as well as having the blessing of our product engineers who are driving technological developments at an international level. The new generation of Lion’s Explorer bus bodies will have pride of place in our communities and will contribute to safe commuting like never before.”

Having such a locally produced product to show-case at the South African Bus Operators Association annual gathering, enables a wide variety of industry stake-holders to share in a fantastic good-news-story of which all citizens can be proud. Kalil-Zackey concludes, “This is just another example of our ongoing commitment to South Africa, world-class passenger transport Companies situated here and the result of teamwork between stake-holders enabling solutions which add value to our economy.”
