Brimstone Investment Corporation began celebrating its 20th anniversary with packing 1,000 food hampers for distribution to people and communities in need.  All parcels were collected from the various beneficiary organisations.

The packing took place at the Rygersdal Sports Center hosted by Brimstone and religious leaders from all faiths.

Brimstone Investment Corporation Limited is a broad-based black controlled and managed investment company listed on the JSE. It employs about 3,300 employees directly in its subsidiaries such as Oceana, Sea Harvest, Lion of Africa Insurance and House of Monatic and in excess of 16,000 people in its associates.

The company provides a good working example of empowerment with a commercial and community focus. Brimstone was founded with the support of a broadbased black investor base, mainly from the Cape. Two decades on, most of these initial investors are still proud shareholders of Brimstone.

In 2005 Brimstone formed the Brimstone Empowerment Share Trust (BEST,) the purpose of which is to create a more sustainable model of support to organisations by awarding them with Brimstone shares at no cost to the awardee organisation. To date 26 organisations with a broad base of beneficiaries have been awarded in excess of 1,3 million shares. The market value of these shares as at 31 October 2014 was in excess of R20m. These shareholders support more than 3,5 million beneficiaries across South Africa.
